I have arrived!

Hola everyone!
This will not be a long post considering that it is 3:30am here and I'm beyond exhausted.

My flights were both fine. I've decided that Newark airport is the size of a small New England state though. I had to take a 10 minute shuttle just to get to my gate!! Once in Newark, I had a three and a half hour layover. By the time it was time to board, our gate was filled with students studying abroad, it was crazy! We all were sitting in the same section, it looked like we had taken over the plane! Most of those students were connecting from Arizona Sate University and literally all of the 35 of them were going through the ISA program, and then there was me... I was able to get the phone number of one of the girls I met and we may meet up eventually.

When I finally arrived, I met up with my program coordinators and we took a bus to a popular part of town. We couldn't take a taxi because the airport taxis were on strike, which the news was interviewing people about -so I may appear on Spanish news as a very flustered, broken spanish American.

My dorm is very tall and skinny. The doors are SO skinny I can't believe it. I could barely get my bag through it. I'll try to post pictures tomorrow!

Things I've noticed/ learned so far:

  • People walk their dogs EVERYWHERE which is awesome but makes me miss my puppies
  • People here don't get their eyebrows done...
  • When entering the metro, GET IN FAST. The door closed on one of the students in our group and he got left there!
  • Don't cross the street if it doesn't say to. The mopeds and cars come ZOOMING at you.
That's it for now, time to get some sleep. We have a busy day ahead of us tomorrow!!
